february 20 - jeffrey caraulia

  1. To day in math Mr Harbeck was talking about our ditital portfolios. In our math section we will have to make a parent quiz which consists of 11 slides. It is were we have to become the teacher and teach our parents how to do the things we do in math. The first slide will consist of a question with exponents. The second slide will show what exponents are, in expanded instead of the short form. For example 3 exponent 4 would be 3x3x3x3, and then show them how to slove the problem. The slide is where you teach them 1 step algebra, for example x+6=20. And for the fourth slide it will be a hint slide which consists the steps to figure out the equation (Steps are to: 1)Isolate the variable, 2)cancel using the opposite, 3)balance and then 4)substitute to check. for the fifth slide it will have another algebra question where the parent answers it using the hints. And then on sixth slide it has another equation. Then on the seventh slide it shows how they got the answer. And when your parents say " Thats so easy!! is this all what your teacher is teaching you?!?!". then they read slide eight where it says something harder with a 2 step equation. On slide nine it will tell them the rules of second step equations which is to: 1)Isolate the variable, 2) cancel the integer first , 3) balance, 4) cancel what is attached to the variable, 5) balance, and then 6)substitute to check. On the tenth slide there would be a 2 step equations where your parents have to answer it. And on the last slide which is the eleventh slide is a link to your class bolg.

Collecting like terms: terms that have the same variable parts called liek terms. As some of you my notice the thingy below is the same as Junnels, well that is because both of us worked on it since were both scribes for today =).
